Wälder sind die artenreichsten Lebensräume der Erde. Sie bedecken ein Drittel der Landfläche dieses Planeten und sind Zuhause für mehr als drei Viertel aller Lebewesen an Land. Als riesiges Netzwerk von Verflechtungen zwischen Millionen von Lebensformen und als wichtiger Kohlenstoffspeicher leisten sie einen unverzichtbaren Beitrag zum Erhalt der Biodiversität und zur Regulierung des globalen Klimas.
Dear2050: Entangled Forests zeigte künstlerische und wissenschaftliche Beiträge über Wälder und regte dazu an, unsere Beziehung zum Wald zu reflektieren. Was sind Wälder für uns? Was würden Bäume sagen, könnten sie mit uns sprechen? Und wie sieht die Zukunft des Waldes aus?
Die Gruppenausstellung entstand in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Plant Ecology Research Lab (PERL) der EPFL in Lausanne. Die Forschungsgruppe untersucht die ökologischen Anpassungsprozesse von Pflanzen unter klimatischem Stress.

Forests are the most biodiverse habitats on planet Earth. Covering a third of the land mass of the planet, they are home to more than three quarters of all terrestrial plants and animals. Forests are an entangled network between millions of living beings and sequester vast quantities of carbon, making them essential for biodiversity and the regulation of the global climate.
Dear2050: Entangled Forests presented artistic and scientific projects that focus on forests in a changing climate and invited us to reflect on our relationship with the forest. What significance have forests for us? What would trees say, if they could talk to us? And what is the future of forests going to be like?
What can forests tell us about life and death, transience and memory, empathy and identity? The group exhibition was created in collaboration with the Plant Ecology Research Lab (PERL) at the EPFL in Lausanne. The research group investigates the ecological processes of adaptation that plants undergo when exposed to climatic stress.
