Oceans on the rise
Die Ausstellung Dear2050: Oceans on the rise war vom 12. Dezember 2021 bis 30. Januar 2022 im Kunst(Zeug)Haus Rapperswil und vom 12. Februar bis 12. März 2022 in der Kammgarn West in Schaffhausen zu sehen.
70% der Erdoberfläche besteht aus Meeren. Sie enthalten 97% des gesamten Wassers der Erde und geben dem Planeten vom All betrachtet seine blaue Farbe. Mehr als 78% der gesamten Biomasse der Erde lebt im Meer. Die Meere regulieren das Klima. Sie speichern die Hälfte aller CO2-Emissionen und 90% der überschüssigen Wärme aus der Atmosphäre. Alles Wasser der Erde fliesst ins Meer.
Die Ausstellung zeigte 18 künstlerische und wissenschaftliche Positionen in einer Nachricht der Künstler:innen und Wissenschaftler:innen an das Jahr 2050 – das Jahr, in dem laut Pariser Klimaabkommen die Wirtschaft klimaneutral sein und die globale Temperatur nicht mehr steigen soll. Die Künstler:innen und Wissenschaftler:innen haben Algen erforscht, die Küste vermessen, die Gezeiten dokumentiert und Küstenstädte der Zukunft gebaut. Die Ausstellung zeigte, wie eng die menschliche Gesellschaft mit dem Meer verbunden ist und wie sich der Klimawandel bereits jetzt auf das Meer auswirkt. Und wie unsere Zukunft gemeinsam mit mehr Meer aussehen könnte.

70% of the Earth’s surface consists of oceans. They contain 97% of the Earth’s total water and give the planet its blue colour when viewed from space. More than 78% of the Earth’s total biomass lives in the sea. The oceans regulate the climate. They store half of all CO₂ emissions and 90% of the excess heat from the atmosphere. All of the Earth’s water flows into the sea.
The exhibition Dear2050: Oceans on the rise showed 18 artistic and scientific positions in a message to the year 2050 – the year in which the world is supposed to be climate neutral according to the Paris Agreement. The scientists and artists have researched algae, measured the coast, documented the tides and built coastal cities of the future. The exhibition showed how closely human society is connected to the sea and how climate change is already affecting it. And how our future could look together with more sea.
