Tero Mustonen

Prof. Tero Mustonen is the head of the village of Selkie in North Karelia, Finland and coordinator of the Snowchange Initiative, an NGO that connects and represents local and Indigenous communities of the Northern Region. He is Adjunct Professor at the University of Eastern Finland and a lead author of the 6th Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Assessment Report. He is a winter seiner and the head of the Kesälahti fish base.

As a scholar of arctic biodiversity, climate change and indigenous issues communities he underlines the importance of traditional knowledge and environmental restoration to understand and respond to the current climate crisis.

Unfortunately, we don’t have a recording of Tero’s talk at DEAR2050. His talk on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and Climate Change provides interesting insight into his work.
